Senior Buyer – Fulltime – Rotterdam

In this role you work in the Purchasing department and report to the Head of Technical Services. As a Senior Buyer you are involved in developing partnerships with relevant suppliers and contracts for the supply of (critical) spare parts. You are responsible for setting up maintenance of framework agreements for repetitive products. In addition, you enthusiastically contribute to improving work processes where necessary.

The company

Our client is a shipping company with 15 chemical tankers. They are partners of major petrochemical companies for chemical and oil maritime transport and offer unique services to their customers in accordance with the highest industry standards and regulations. About 30 employees work at the office in Rotterdam. It is a friendly, international team and there is an informal working atmosphere

Your role

  • You ensure that ships are provided with the necessary materials and services on time;
  • You follow up on requests from the ships, request and assess quotes and place orders in collaboration with the technical superintendent;
  • You will implement company policies and procedures regarding onboard purchasing and supplies;
  • You provide feedback and assist supervisors with purchasing and shipping issues;
  • You will draw up and negotiate contracts;
  • You stay informed of all market developments.

What do we ask?

  • You have 5 to 7 years of purchasing experience at Shipping, Offshore or Chemical/Shipyard companies;
  • You are results-oriented and have a hands-on mentality;
  • The ability to create and maintain good working relationships within the team;
  • You can think and act strategically;
  • Nevi 1 or CIPS or other relevant courses;
  • You have management skills, such as coaching, delegation and integrity;
  • You have good communication and negotiation skills in the English language (Dutch is not recuired).
